About this activity
Bushcraft is the art of living comfortably in the natural environment using traditional skills. We teach fire by friction, debris shelter construction, plant identification, water sourcing, and wild cooking.
Sessions take place in managed woodland on Dartmoor — away from roads, away from structures. Participants get hands dirty, make fires from scratch, and leave able to make themselves safe in the field.
Enormously popular with schools (curriculum links to geography, science, and PSHE), DofE groups, and adults who want skills that actually matter.

Common questions
FAQs
Is fire-making safe for young children?
Yes — we assess every group and adapt accordingly. Younger groups work with supervised flint-and-steel, older participants with friction methods.
Can this be combined with an overnight camp?
Yes, and it's our most popular combination. Participants build their own shelter and spend the night in it — a genuinely transformative experience.
What should participants wear?
Old clothes they don't mind getting dirty. We'll send a detailed kit list on booking.
Is this a survival course?
No — it's skills-focused. We teach craft and capability, not how to survive a disaster. That distinction matters for the quality of learning.
